The company was founded in 2005 on the principle that the client is the number one stakeholder in any project. Initially started as a civil engineering and consulting firm, SWP Contracting and Paving evolved from a specialty stormwater contractor, and now a renewed focus as a general contractor.

Past Performance

Tish Creek Trail Bridge Replacement

The Tish Creek Trail Bridge was damaged by fallen trees during a major storm event.  The bridge is located in the Columbia River Gorge- National Scenic Area on trail #440 at M.P. 2.  By ground, the bridge is only accessible by trail.

The project work included:

  • Removal of the existing damaged trail bridge superstructure.
  • Disposal of the pre-existing trail bridge superstructure.
  • Supply of a fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) trail bridge.
  • Supply and installation of decay resistant wood bridge deck planks.
  • Supply and installation of galvanized steel sill substructure.
  • Minor bridge approach work including adjustment of the bridge approaches elevations.

 

Bridge Replacement, Mt. Hood National Forest Service: Prime Contractor

SWP was contracted by the United States Forest Service for the replacement of structure for an existing single span pressure treated timber trail bridge over Shady Creek, located within the Multnomah Falls Recreation Area, Bridal Veil, OR.  The bridge was replaced with a steel beam and precast concrete superstructure. The project is located on the Larch Mountain Trail, #441, at MP 0.30, between the Multnomah Falls Lodge and the Benson Bridge in the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area, in Section 7, T. 1 N., R. 6 E., Multnomah County, Oregon.

This was an award under the Region 6, Road & Bridge Construction and Repair 8(a) Set-Aside IDIQ.  This project had an accelerated schedule. Project work included:

  • Removal and disposal of the existing timber bridge
  • Structural excavation and backfill
  • Minor hot asphalt concrete patch
  • Precast concrete members (spacer beam, backwall, and deck
    panel)
  • Structural steel beams
  • Cast-in-place concrete fill
  • Rock wall foundation repair
  • Metal pedestrian rail

Ancillary items included developing and implementing an erosion control and environmental protection plan, developing and implementing a trail closure, and developing and implementing a pedestrian and traffic control plan.

Katherine Lake Bullhead, AZ: Prime Contractor PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

SWP performed a full depth, full-width 4R improvement of Katherine Access Road as the main roadway into the Katherine Access Marina. The 4R work included widening the roadway template; new drainage structures; improved pullouts adjacent to the roadway; paved entrance parking area; resurfacing existing Marina area parking lots and boat launch areas as well as the entrance station. The project also included new signage and safety improvements along the route.
